The Way We Do Things
If you’ve never been involved in the federal justice system, you’d probably be shocked by “the way we do things” ‒ as the process’s denizens call it.
The Bundy 19
Standing Up for Rights
An Oregon Road Deathtrap
“Cliven, Ryan has been shot.” There was a long pause. “He’s dead.”
Not quite grasping what he had just heard, Cliven could only manage to ask, “What happened?”
The answer to that question reads like the script of a Hollywood movie.
Rancher Under Arrest
Walking toward him down the passenger compartment’s aisle, two of the men passed beyond the weary passenger; but, the second pair stopped right in front of him. Almost instantly, he realized the first two had doubled back and were standing right behind him, effectively surrounding him as best they could in the cramped space of a commercial jetliner’s passenger aisle.
“Cliven Bundy?” the man directly in front of him said, looking him straight in the eye. “FBI. We have a Federal warrant for your arrest. Please stand up.”
Where Does Cliven Bundy STAND Today?
Today is the four-year anniversary of the protest in Bunkerville, Nevada, widely known worldwide as “The Standoff.”
Recently, I spent the day with Cliven and Carol Bundy at their ranch. I had scheduled some time to come to the ranch attend a celebration of the dismissal of charges but those celebratory plans were quickly dashed as those who languish in lock-up were again brought to the forefront in the hearts of The Bundy’s.
“I am not sure what we can do for ‘em,” says Cliven, as we bump down the desert ranch road in the April heat. “Engel and Burleson might have some chance," referring to the post-conviction relief filings both men have in the motion. “But the ones who’d plead guilty I just don’t know what we can do,” shaking his head.

Why won’t Cliven Bundy leave the Federal Lock-Up?
As the trial continues, I sit in the courtroom’s gallery. I can’t help but notice that the only press representatives there to cover the trial are from the progressive-leaning mainstream media (MSM) and environmental specialty websites. Save one: a local Fox reporter, who admitted to having never been in a courtroom before.
Why are the progressive media investing their financial resources in following this story? What are they desperately trying to prevent – or – achieve? Why is the progressive-leaning MSM the predominant news source? I pondered these questions to myself.
